Colonos 8 De Octubre Del Pescadero, Baja California Sur
There are 200 families currently living in tents and makeshift housing outside of Pescadero, BCS. While 110 families have received access to clean water, 90 more families are without access to clean water or basic necessities for survival. We need your cash donations to help our neighbors.
In the past five years – Many Mexican families have been priced out of home ownership and the rental housing market. Gentrification has driven the cost of living through the roof.
A community adjacent to Pescadero was recently established by the federal government of Mexico and will eventually accommodate thousands of people. To address the gentrification problem the federal government has allocated affordable (1/3 acre) lots available for purchase by Mexican citizens from all over Mexico.
Amigos De Los Campos
The Amigos is a group of concerned citizens living in Baja Sur, Mexico. Our Mission is to improve the living conditions of the poverty-stricken residents of Colonos 8 De Octubre Del Pescadero (Campo). Our goal is to assist with the infrastructure and accessibility to all persons living in the neighborhood. We hope to improve housing, health, food, water, and sanitation for survival. Currently, all of the indigenous people residing in the Campo are struggling to live in uninhabitable living conditions. Amigos de Los Campos is a program of Life Resources Institute, a 501c3 non-profit located in Ashland Oregon.
Water is most critical
While many issues effect these residents, water has been identified as the most critical need. After the Amigos first two distributions of 110 water systems in 2025, and with the rapid growth of the community, almost 1/2 of the families do not have any access to potable water. This means no safe water for drinking or sanitation for 90 families.
Secondly, there is a need for dry and canned food, children's and men's clothing, hygiene products, diapers and construction materials. Donation drop-offs are at Shakas, Pescadero 62 and 5 Tacos in Las Tunas.
